it's the first snow of the year
I wonder, will it stay for good?
I wonder will it still be here in the morning?
When I wake up to greet the day will the fresh white snow still around me lay?
I know that by February, my thoughts on snow will be contrary
But this is now and this is here and
it's the first snow of the year!

La vie en Montreal
Life in Montreal is less fun than I thought it would be. I have scads of time which I spend doing nothing. I don't know anyone here and it is quite lonely. I started a countdown today, only 7 months left until I can move back to Guelph! I guess I am wishing that I could live here with all of my friends and tons of money. Then perhaps Montreal would be more interesting for me. At least I am catching up on my reading and tv watching.............

Whitewater Canoeing in Algonquin
On the Canada Day long weekend we went to Ottawa for a day of kayaking and partying with Alex's friends. Then we headed to Algonquin for some whitewater canoeing on the Petawawa River! It was our first time and we had a great adventure. We went down one rapid and smashed the canoe into a huge rock, but we didn't capsize! Check out the picture of us going down (that's me in the front!). We also went geocaching in Algonquin, and dropped off this little duck TB. Great time overall!

Penny on the ground, every day, every day.......
On May 15, a bunch of friends and I went to see Hawksley Workman in concert in Toronto at the Palais Royale. It was an excellent concert! I have been a fan of Hawksley for about 2 years and this was my second chance to see him live. He is a great live performer. I think after the concert I had converted some of my friends! I also was able to pick up a cd of rare Hawksley songs called "Before we were security guards". Very unique. (I didn't take these pictures, they were blatantly stolen from the internet).
You can check him out at HawksleyWorkman.com

ULTIMATE Frisbee!
This week we are playing our last game of the spring season. Our team is called the Republic of Canuckistan. We are in 5th place right now in our league. We hope that we can advance in the summer season. Lately our team has been playing really well! As usual, I have my eyes closed in the photo! At the end of each game the other team has to sing a cheer to us. We have had A LOT of renditions of Oh Canada!

Birds-foot Violet - ENDANGERED!
I am currently working on my Masters at UQAM. As my project, I am studying Birds-foot Violet, a plant that is Endangered in Canada. This plant grows in very few places in Ontario, and I am trying to protect it and its habitat. But first, I need to figure out what it likes best!

India
UPDATE!
I am going to India in December with Alex's family for 2 weeks. We are going to London first, then to Delhi and then Mumbai (Bombay), then back to London. We will probably be on the plane New Years Eve, so we can celebrate as we go through the time zones!

May 24 Camping
For the May 24 weekend we went to Poker Lake. We drove in on a crazy road in the middle of the night! I'm looking at these pictures and thinking that we look awfully dry, considering that it rained the entire weekend! I guess we must have only taken the camera out when it stopped raining. Most of this trip was spent hudding under the tarp gulping down food while trying not to get soaked, and lying in the tent while it poured! Overall, everyone kept up good spirits despite the constant rain and the vicious bugs, until Monday, when we decided to pack it in.
